Paper knife material grades:

INLAID TOOL STEEL -

This grade of steel is inlaid for guillotine paper knives and is a solid, through hardened-High Carbon,

High Chrome steel in the case of some thinner three knife trimmers or bottom knives.

This steel is rich in wear-resistant alloying elements making it an excellent choice for normal

cutting.

 

PREMIUM 18% TUNGSTEN HIGH SPEED STEEL -

18% Tungsten High Speed Steel paper cutter blades have become a standard across the industry.

Affordably priced, these paper knives last 3-5 times longer between sharpening compared to

regular steel paper cutter knives.  This alloy is designed to be used under high production

applications

 

ULTRA FINE GRAINED TUNGSTEN CARBIDE -

    If you have a clean cutting operation with well maintained equipment and are looking for the

ultimate life and abrasion resistance, these are the paper cutter knives to use.  These are not regular

carbide paper trimmer knives.  Regular carbide normally has grain size larger than One Micron.

This means that tiny abrasive filler materials in the paper such as clay and talc can get between the

grains and wash out the soft cobalt binder.  Kanefusa Tungsten Carbide has a grain size

significantly smaller than One Micron and is guaranteed to last as long or longer than other carbide

paper knives, including the "super grade" carbide paper cutter knives from Europe.  Wear-life

improvements of 25 times steel trimmer knives and 2 times standard carbide grades are not

uncommon.  Do not believe that all carbide paper knives are the same...it is technically and in reality

not true.  For the best results, these carbide paper cutter blades must be used under optimum cutting

conditions.
