Shear Blades

Shearing is a metal fabricating process. A typical shearing machine will use both an upper and a lower guillotine shear blade which are offset from each other by a small, predetermined amount. Shearing is used for straight cuts of flat metal stock. Shearing is characterized by its ability to cut a range of lengths quickly and efficiently. This is because the blades can be mounted at different angles, which reduces the force needed for cutting short lengths. One disadvantage of shearing is that it can result in burred and slightly deformed edges.

At The Cutting Edge Grinding and Supply Company we carry replacement shear blades for a wide range of shearing machines, including:

You can visit our website at  www.TheCuttingEdgeGrinding.com for a full list of our replacement products. Or give us a call to determine what shear blade is right for your machine. When choosing a replacement blade, it is important to consider the application. What metals do you cut? What is their thickness? Both the average thickness and maximum thickness will need to be considered. With what frequency is your shearing machine used? The answers to these questions will help determine what grade and alloy the replacement blades should be. To find the right size blade for your equipment, you will need to know the make and model of your cutting machine. If this cannot be determined, a scale drawing of the original blade should be enough to find the correct replacement blade.

The Cutting Edge Grinding and Supply Company provide high precision sharpening for all manner of industrial blades, including metal shear blades. Our equipment and experienced technicians allow us to grind blades to high levels of tolerance. We are capable of sharpening metal cutting blades up to 200 inches in length.
